Dear Parent or Guardian,
It is my pleasure to be teaching your son/daughter for the 2016-2017 school year. My name is Karen Dean. This is my 25th year of teaching. I am a member of the Fine Arts department here. This year I will be teaching Introduction to the Theatre, Acting, and Advanced Acting/Production Workshop (IB Theatre 1 and 2). I, my colleague Jeff White, and a senior theatre student will be directing two main stage productions for the StageLight Theatre in the fall and a musical in the spring.
I believe it is important for parents and teachers to communicate their concerns with each other; too often we wait until a problem arises. This letter is intended to open a line of communication between us at the beginning of the semester. My goal is to challenge your student to be the best he/she can be. I will strive always to create meaningful activities in a variety of learning styles that will reach each student on their own level. I will also push the students to stretch beyond what they think they are capable of. It is in that stretching that they will grow and learn. I will maintain a safe, comfortable learning environment. Above all, students will be well prepared for the next phase of their academic life when they leave my classroom.
I expect the best from my students and I will push them to reach that goal. You can always keep track of their grades on Powerschool. Information regarding this important tool will be available to you around the first of September. You may also access my web page through the Wildcat Web on the Bolton High School website. You will find a syllabus for your student’s class and other important announcements. If you need to reach me, the best way is through e-mail. My address is [email protected]. My office phone number is 901-416-1999. If I am teaching when you call, I will call you back as soon as I can.
I look forward to meeting you this year as well as working with your most precious gift, your child.
Sincerely,
Karen Dean

Sincerely,
Karen Dean
